FAQs - booking Fiji flights

  • What ground transport options can I take from Fiji Airport?

To experience Fiji, you could travel as the locals do by taking a bus. You can only access the buses by purchasing a disposable e-ticket card at the arrivals area. If you want more privacy in moving around Fiji, consider renting a vehicle at the on-site car rentals, Avis, Budget, Hertz, and Satellite. You can request a shuttle service if you are going to a hotel. You can also opt for metered taxi services at the ground transportation area in the airport. When leaving the airport using a taxi, expect a flag drop at a flat rate.

  • Do airports in Fiji have lounges?

Yes. When flying into the country's main international airport, NAN, you can access the lounges regardless of your class. You can access the Air New Zealand Lounge airside in the international departures accessible using membership programs or Fiji Airways Premier Lounge airside, the ground floor of international departures, accessible using membership programs and paying at the door.

  • Do airports in Fiji allow passengers with pets entry into the country?

Fiji airports allow pets into the country. However, specific airlines do not allow pets into the cabin. If your pet is a dog, ensure it is not among the prohibited breeds from entering the country, like American Pitbull, Pit Bull terriers, Fila Brasileiro, and Dogo Argentina. If you are landing in NAN or SUV, to get your pet past the airports, ensure you have an original import permit, health certificate from the US, copies of veterinary certificates, vaccination records, and identification via a microchip.

  • Does Nadi International Airport, Fiji offer concierge services to travelers?

Yes. NAN offers concierge services to passengers needing them. You can request the service at least 48 hours before your travel date. The service includes wheelchair assistance for the mobility challenged, chauffeur service from the airport, help with luggage, airport lounge access, buggy transportation, and personal assistance for stress-free transit throughout the country.

  • Do I need a visa to visit Fiji?

If you are a United States citizen and you are staying for a duration of fewer than four months, you will not need a visa for entry into Fiji. What you will need is a passport that is valid for at least six months after your date of entry. Official guidelines can be found on the US government’s travel and immigration website.

  • Are there nonstop flights to Fiji from the US?

While there are several airports scattered throughout the islands of Fiji, many of them serve domestic flights only. Nonstop flights from the United States to Fiji are only available to depart from San Francisco, Honolulu and Los Angeles, later arriving in the city of Nadi on the western coast of Viti Levu, the main island of Fiji.

  • What should I know if I want to reach Kadavu Island?

Check flights to Kadavu Island (KDV), departing from LAX airport. The route can involve one stop in Brisbane, Sydney or Hong Kong before reaching Nadi. Be aware that there's a possibility that the flights can be operated by more than one airline.

  • Where should I fly to if I want to visit the Mamanuca Islands?

There are a few airports and airstrips located on the Mamanuca Islands, but they see mostly domestic air traffic. To conveniently reach the Mamanuca Islands, it’s best to fly into Fiji’s main airport in Nadi. From Nadi, you can reach any of the Mamanuca Islands via ferry, catamaran or one of the various cruises operated by local tour operators.

Top tips for finding cheap flights to Fiji

  • Enter your preferred departure airport and travel dates into the search form above to unlock the latest Fiji flight deals.
  • The main airport in Fiji is Nadi International Airport (NAN), located west of the main island, Viti Levu. The airport handles about 97% of international flights arriving in the country. The other flights fly into Nausori International Airport (SUV).
  • If you want to tour Denarau Island, a location for Fiji resorts, consider flying into Nadi Airport, the central tourist hub just about a 20-minute drive from Denarau. The airport serves all island resorts and the Coral Coast hotels. You can connect directly to the islands from the airport.
  • If you are visiting Fiji officially, you can land at Nausori International Airport. Nausori Airport is the leading business airport in the country, within about 30 minutes of Suva, Fiji's capital.
  • Once you land at Nadi Airport and want to grab something to eat, you can visit the hotels nearby. You can go to Fiji Gateway Hotel, about 0.4 miles (600 meters) from the airport, or Tokatoka Resort, opposite the airport and about 0.6 miles (900 meters) away. You can walk to either of the hotels. However, both are served by airport shuttles in case you require transit.
  • Traveling to Fiji with heavy baggage can be daunting. Once you land at Nadi Airport, you can store your bags at the airport as you run other errands. The luggage storage lockers offer up to two months of storage in their facility. The rate depends on your luggage's size and storage duration. Access the lockers on the first floor of the arrival concourse.
  • Booking a flight to Fiji grants you a few different options for airports to fly into. Flights from the United States are available to the following destinations in Fiji: Nadi, Suva, Savusavu, Labasa, Taveuni, Rotuma Island and Kadavu. Flights to these destinations are available from major US air hubs like Los Angeles, San Diego, Dallas and Chicago.
  • To get to Fiji from the US, at least one stop will often be involved, unless you’re flying from major California airports or from Honolulu, Hawaii. The most common layover point if you’re flying from most of the areas of the US is LAX airport in Los Angeles, especially if you’re flying from the Midwest or East Coast cities like New York.
  • Some of the best flights depart from Los Angeles. From this city, flights are usually cheaper and faster. The flight takes a bit more than 11h without a layover and Fiji Airways is usually the one which operates this route. Cheaper deals involve one or two layovers and you can find these offers with companies like Virgin Aust Intl or Air New Zealand. Stops are either in Brisbane or Auckland.
  • If you want to visit Taveuni, you should fly to Vatulele Island (TVU). There aren't direct flights from the US, but you can arrange a flight with just one layover. The stop would be in Nadi and, normally, the airline Fiji Airways operates this route.
  • Rotuma is a popular destination in Fiji, but it isn’t directly accessible by flights from the United States. To visit Rotuma from the US, you’ll have to fly to the city of Nadi and take a connecting regional flight to Rotuma Airport (RTA). This route is operated exclusively by Fiji Airways.

All was good, the only thing was it didn't run on time.

Couldn’t request a vegan meal somehow but I noticed other people getting them

Good food and entertainment options. Great Staff that were all welcoming and caregiving.

The recline on the seat in front of me came back so that I was staring at the top of the man’s head in front of me the whole trip. He refused to bring his seat back up twice every time he was instructed to do so and only relented when he had a tray of good in front of him. And then right back in my lap!!! Horrible man!! I complained to the staff multiple times, but no one would address the issue. Otherwise, it would have been a perfect flight.

There was a snafu with confirming seats at check which left us in limbo for the second leg of our trip. I believe the ANZ app is not well integrated with the systems at the terminal resulting in this disconcerting error.

The pilot tried to make up for lost time due to delays that were out of her control. She communicated the issues openly and clearly and made every effort to do what she could to alleviate issues.

Flight attendants are always pleasant and helpful. Pilot kept us updated.

Just a hiccup being added to the NZ Traveller Declaration a bit late.

Boarding instructions on one leg of my journey were not well communicated at the gate (Melbourne to Auckland)

The only thing that was less than excellent was the food server at dinner. (I had the chicken.) It wasn't that it was poorly heated or in difficult-to-open containers; it was just that it had a very peculiar taste. And I use that to describe not just the main course but the dessert as well. Very odd flavours for what seemed to be a mainstream item. I did like that the airline offered us a free glass of wine. The breakfast omelette wasn't bad, although it was quite bland.

Business class Seats on the A350 from Nan to YVR were wonderful. The flight crew was okay but could do with better training. Toilets were clean but ran out of paper towels towards the end of the flight. The food/menu and the wine offered really needs considerable improvement. Dinner options were either Bolani, a beef sandwich (even this could be made much better), or paneer butter masala. Unfortunately, if you are not a fan of Fijian food, there isn’t much choice. Dessert was either turmeric ice cream or fruits but unfortunately, they were out of fruit! So the only option was turmeric ice cream. I’m not certain how many passengers like turmeric but I am not one of them. They need to cater to a more diverse group of people. Perhaps they need a new chef? The movies& tv shows were mostly older so I didn’t find that interesting either. It was however, fun to view the plane’s exterior cameras as we take off and land. The best thing about this flight are the business class seats.

Comfortable as one can get in Economy, food was very good, staff were super friendly & efficient.

Really liked the plane and business class seat. Food was ok but could be better. Service was very good.

Better connections, much better cabin crew, much cleaner cabin that Qantas, American and probably other carriers.

Better connections, much better cabin crews, much cleaner aircraft than Qantas, American and probably others.

Fiji left without me because American Airlines was too stupid to get to LAX on time. Fiji should have offered a standby on another flight but they told me tough luck. I will never fly with this company again.

The A350 aircraft business class experience was very good. Comfortable and well appointed pod, and supplemental bed pad available for sleeping. Food was very good.

Business class seats and amenities were excellent, crew very attentive. Slept well. Food good, lounge experience nice. Would fly them again. A350 aircraft excellent, very quiet.

The flight attendants were extremely friendly and helpful. Everything ran on time. I highly recommend Fiji Airways.

The experience was lovely in every respect. The crews were delightful.

BA Airbus A380 BC upstairs had 2 3 2 layout. The seat was comfy but access for those in middle or window seats had to climb over others fest to get to ailse when seats in bed mode. The layout was not nearly as private as other layouts. The staff was amazing as well as the food. Most airline food is average but this was restaurant quality.

Qantas are unable to service and unfit for purpose, they cannot transport Australians on time to overseas destinations. On top of the inflated ticketing, the Sydney flight to Santiago was impacted because the plane was delayed arriving and then further bungling by Qantas admitting the ground new ground crew in charge of cleaning were not trained. The impact on passengers with connecting flights was tremendous and long ques of frustrated passengers waiting for rescheduling. **Qantas has become the Australian Spirit of disappointment**

Amazing! Was put on the earlier flight and I requested for an aisle seat and was given it. Thanks Qantas!

I was pleasantly surprised with my flight to LA with Qantas. Although seats were not the roomies, service was excellent.

It was nice having space in the way back where it thinned out with passengers, most folks in the far back were able to lay down and sleep. That was a pleasant surprise. Made the 15 hr flight go by pretty smooth, watching a few movies and resting. I had previously never used an airplane toilet, but finally used one. It wasn't too bad. All workers were very helpful and friendly. Their hospitality was welcomed as well

Enjoyed the new possibilities of in flight entertainment. Been awhile since I've flown, and that was a nice surprise. Being able to pick from such a variety was personalized and welcomed.

Qantas cancelled my flight for no good reason and rebooked me into a middle seat.

Boarding was terrible - the ground staff member Fredeya at lax was more military than customer service, have never encountered a customer service representative as rude as her. Apart from that all other staff were wonderful and the flight was good.

I travelled first class from LAX to MEL and it was a series of disasters which I put down to lax staff who dont care and a suck it attitude to customers - its all lip service and no delivery. The flight was delayed due to aircraft refuellers putting on 300,000 litres of fuel on a 380Q1. I entered via the first class bridge loaded my bags in the overhead locker. the lady in the next isle in first class also had hers in there as she wasn't allocated a locker over her seat. The attendant asked would I like a champagne - I said yes please. he promptly delivered a empty glass and the glass left on the desk. Then he ignored me for 20 minutes. When i asked him is he out of champagne he gave me the usual rubbish I was distracted. There are four staff and 15 first class passengers - give me a break. the glass stayed there on takeoff and then was still there 9 hours into the flight. When I arrived to my seat I told him I had eaten and wouldn't be eating on the flight - it was 10.30pm. Yet he comes by later 4am ( I happen to be awake) and says are you eating with us? I asked for the bed to be made up - they put a 3 inch 7cm mattress on the chair but as usual the break in the chair - the mattress sinks into it - so I had to move it around so I didnt get my back sunk in the V - Im 187cm tall. The cabinet next to 1K is for staff bags and the toilet is next door. I tried to avoid this seat but couldn't change - in to the flight 8 hours and the cabin rest change over kicks in - this attendant is shining his torch in my eyes taking out and returning his bag. Then the toilet starts flushing and forget trying to get to sleep. Yet no-one else needed torch! 11 hours into the 15.5 hour flight I ask for breakfast - I order two poached eggs, bacon on multigrain toast, tomatos and mushrooms. I get no bacon or toast and have to order it and the eggs are cold. Then I order a coffee which is so badly spilled - and not by air turbulence she brings back a serviette and replaces the first one rather than providing a clean dry saucer! First class in Qantas is a joke as the staff just don't get the meaning of prompt service and attention to detail. I will fly business class rather than first on Qantas as its better value for money but I have been very impressed with United First Polaris and given I fly internationally every month this is going to be my choice.

I was in premium economy. My seat didn’t recline much - it was broken. My phone charger didn’t work.

Not a fan of the diagonal partially enclosed business class seats or how they have to be converted to beds manually by crew. I prefer more isolation and user control for switching to lie flat.

No lounge access with “United First” ticket. False alarm about late flight, jeopardizing connection. Wrong meal. Loose power socket would not hold plug, could not charge device. In-flight access to text messaging did not work. Toilet seat on plane would not stay up.

We ended up with seats in the very back. So they did not recline. Have no idea why, we reserved and checked in very early. The isles were very narrow and the seats had very little leg room. But they did give us water, and a snack.

Energetic crew - flight full of swiftied going to Taylor's opening show in Paris! Long lines for bathroom made out kind of suck though

Check in etc was very good. As for on the plane, it was like flying in a freezer. It was so cold, i have flown for years and never been so cold on a plane. Staff on board said its always cold when flying which is a load of rubbish. They wouldnt put any heating on and now i have the flu because of this .

I’ve had a couple flights this week on United that were delayed by an hour or more

Flight was delayed 2.5 hours - a big deal on an overnight when you plan to sleep.

I feel like they have upgraded the app since I last flew United and I found it to be super helpful. I had stopped flying United unless absolutely necessary and my experience on this trip indicates they have been working hard to improve their services.

Surprisingly easy! I was hesitant to try this, but the cost swayed me. I actually felt like I had less stress than all the taxiing and possible delays that occur with short regional flights where you spend less time in the air than getting to and from the plane..

This flight was delayed multiple times and eventually canceled around 2-3ish. Original take off time was around 10:30am. By 3, there were no other options out of Houston, so stuck in Houston for from 3pm - 11am the next day.

Flight attendant was incredible. Very efficient, friendly and pleasant. Patricia was one of the best I have ever seen. Please give her a big raise!

Delayed multiple times. Boarding was ok but getting off the aircraft was a mess. So disorganized with staff trying to help the elderly but completely blocking path for anyone else to move. Bathroom was disgusting, probably caused by one of the customers but staff couldn't care less to help clean it. No one wanted to use it since the floor was completely soaked so everyone just lined up the other restroom while the staff just chit chat with each other while looking at us.

LIT to DFW - 3 hours late; the entire plane had been boarded before they told us there was a delay due to a weather-related ground stop in Dallas. DFW to MAY - 2+ hours late due to A/C needing to be repaired after everyone had boarded, then when we finally reach the runway, the First Officer timed out and we had to taxi all the way back to the gate and wait for a new one. I arrived in New Orleans 5+ hours later than I should have. Return flights were completely cancelled; rebooked through the app to fly through CLT instead of DFW. MSY to CLT had no issues, but CLT to LIT was delayed 1.25 hrs because flight attendants had not arrived to the airport yet. At least they didn’t make us all sit on the plane to wait for them. I should have driven.

Tray table was filthy when I sat down. I needed to have someone come clean it because there was food and stains on it WiFi didn’t work after paying for in flight WiFi Food was terrible and was not filling at all Chicken was rubbery Flight attendant had an attitude, interrupted me and wasn’t able to answer basic questions about the food selection such as “does the chicken have red sauce in it”. If your flight attendants are not going to know what is in the meals so we can make an educated decision based on dietary restrictions, they shouldn’t be on the plane. My 1.5 year old niece was sleeping and dropped her binkie. I went on the ground under the chairs looking for it. It was at that time that she came up to me as I’m CLEARLY on all 4s with a flashlight and said “I need to get by”. I said one moment please I’m getting something from under the seat (while my head was literally under the seat). Her reply was “no you need to move now” and proceeded to almost push me out of the way. I looked up and all I saw was her toes under my eyes. When I looked in front of me, her private parts were inches away from my face. I then made a comment “you couldn’t waited 2 seconds?” and her response was, “no I need to use the bathroom”. I understand that and would never want to be the reason someone couldn’t get to the bathroom but I was under the seat. She could’ve gone around the other way instead of harassing me, basically placing her private parts on my head and borderline pushing me out of the way. You don’t pay (especially this much) for this deplorable experience. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had on American. I will be absolutely thinking twice and thrice about flying American Airlines again. I would rather pay more to fly delta because at least I know their WiFi will work and their flight attendants won’t have a terrible attitude for no reason, nor will they act the way this woman did. Unacceptable.

Liked - nothing. Disliked - delayed 35+ min sitting on the plane. Caused me to miss my connection in Charlotte. American Airlines is the worst US Air Carrier company with atrocious customer service.

Worst situation ever! I booked my tickets for this trip on Alaska Airlines. I guess AA is a partner and we flew nonstop from Eugene to PHX on an AA jet. I had to pay for luggage from PHX to EUG. And this was an Alaska Airlines reservation paid for with Alaska airlines credit card! Got to the PHX airport and was not able to check bags because of some weird issue with the AA software. My reservation had to be the-entered by the agent. I will never pick another American Airlines flight on the Alaska Airlines website. While on vacation, I tried to upgrade our seats for the trip home. The request just buffered and never went through. I tried four times and was charged four times on my credit card. The card was charged but the seats were never changed. What a wreck!

Left from gate 30 minutes before flight. Never been late to a flight ever. It says 15 minutes before explicitly on the ticket.

I like the boarding process, it was fast. The seat doesn’t have a TV for a long flight and food wasn’t served, just snacks.

Use planes with TVs on flights over 4 hours. The free entertainment was a cheap in between solution for a very long flight that you don't even bother providing meals or decent snacks.
